ACIDS VS ALKALINE, HEALTH VS DISEASE

Foods can be divided into two categories: they have an acidic reaction or an alkaline reaction in the body.

Please note: this is not necessarily related to the actual pH of the food. It is related to the pH that each food leaves behind when it is digested inside the body.

For example, citrus fruits are acidic in nature, but they actually have an alkalizing effect on the body.

It is important to understand which foods belong to each category and the different effects they have on the health of the body.

ALKALINE OR ACID?

ACIDIC = inflammatory and mucous-forming foods leave residues with predominantly acid-forming minerals that impart acidity to cells and metabolic waste stream. The major acid-forming minerals are phosphorus, sulfur, chlorine, iodine, bromine, fluoride, copper, and silicon.

On the other hand, highly ALKALINE electric and hydrating foods leave alkaline-ash minerals after being digested, such as sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and iron.

Humans are biologically adapted to predominantly alkaline foods.

Most of the population follows the standard American diet, which predominantly contains acid-forming foods. Because of the high nitrogen or phosphorus content of these foods, they miss out on calcium and other electrolytes, as the body must use these alkaline minerals to buffer the acidic elements. It is best to have only 10 to 20 percent acid-forming foods in your diet and the rest alkaline.

An alkalized and properly nourished body is the key to vibrant health.
