The sun's energy is more necessary for us than we think. Nothing can replace the lack of sun. Without sun, there is no health. It not only provides vitamin D, but it's also an immunoregulator, yes, that's right. It boosts the immune system. It's antifungal and antibacterial. See all its benefits here. Dr. Eduard Estivill, director of the Sleep Unit at the General University Hospital of Catalonia, Spain, highlights several studies that demonstrate the role natural sunlight plays in our health. The sun produces vitamin D in our bodies, which is responsible for several important functions, such as properly absorbing calcium for strong teeth, bones, joints, and muscles.
SYMPTOMS OF VIT D DEFICIENCY
If we are people who do not frequently expose ourselves to the sun, when it is mild (not when it burns) we are likely to have a vitamin D deficiency. A daily dose of 15 minutes as mentioned above helps to absorb it.
There are no exact physical symptoms that are triggered by this deficiency, some common ones are:
● Get sick or get infected more often
● Feeling tired or fatigued
● Hair loss
● Muscle pain
● Bone and/or lower back pain
● Depression or low mood
● Wounds that heal slowly after surgery, infection, or injury.
● Vitamin D deficiency can also lead to loss of bone density, making bones more fragile. This increases the risk of fractures after a fall.
HOW TO SUNBATHE YOUR SKIN
It is RECOMMENDED to sunbathe during the hours when the sun is gentle and doesn't burn; this is when we reap its benefits. Every day, in the morning before 12 pm (earlier depending on the geographic area), or after 6 pm when the sun is setting.
Don't use chemical sunscreen (it's absorbed through the skin and is harmful). Clean your diet so that the acids released from it don't irritate your skin. Don't wear sunglasses (they inhibit the message to the brain to produce melanin), just wear a hat.
The Sun Food: Sun Gazing
Contemplating the sunrise and sunset is good for both physical and mental health. It's key to find a privileged spot from which to watch the beginning and end of the day to fully enjoy the light as it rises and sets. The technique of sungazing first appeared in India over two thousand years ago; today, it has become popularized as Sungazing. People who no longer consume physical nourishment practice it; it's a way of nourishing the body with its energy, a true form of human photosynthesis.
TECHNIQUE
It consists of looking at the sun for a period of time that varies from 10 seconds to 44 minutes (this last step is only reached after weeks of practice because the eye gradually gets used to staring at the sun).
