DO ACIDIC FOODS CAUSE ANXIETY?

When we consume acidic foods, the body perceives them as an “attack” because the body’s pH is more alkaline. The immune system then takes action, generating inflammation and mucus to prevent these acids from burning organs and tissues. The hormone that helps reduce this inflammation is the hormone cortisol, also known as the stress hormone.

On the one hand, we give the body acids that damage it and it defends itself by becoming inflamed and generating mucus, on the other hand, it releases cortisol to reduce this inflammation. This vicious circle leads us to constantly and daily release cortisol.

 Foods that cause anxiety: 

1- Acid pH foods

These acidic foods, in addition to producing the constant release of cortisol, generate stagnation because they are low in fiber and water, which motivates the development of parasites, fungi and bacteria to eat these toxins that should come out and do not. These organisms are only waste eaters, but like all beings, they eat and shit and their waste is hypertoxic to humans, generating changes at the neurotransmitter level, producing anxiety and stress. 2- Fermented foods 

Fermented foods (bread, cheese, alcoholic beverages such as beer, etc.) are those obtained from the process of converting carbohydrates into alcohol or organic acids using microorganisms such as molds, bacteria or yeasts, under anaerobic conditions for a certain time. Acetaldehyde is a toxic byproduct of fermentation that momentarily produces a relaxing, sedative and pleasurable effect on some areas of the brain. This, over time of consuming them leads to addiction, hacking the normal functioning of the brain. Generating stress and anxiety.

3- Processed foods 

These have additives to preserve them, change their appearance (color, texture), flavor enhancers, etc. Salt, vinegar, hydrogenated oils, or chemical compounds created for this function are generally used. All of these are highly acidic and, above all, the chemicals are useless and difficult for the body to eliminate later. 

These extremely “tasty” foods generate momentary pleasure and are very likely to become addictive, which keeps us in a constant state of alert, stress and survival. 

Effects of constant cortisol release in the body

  • Since this hormone regulates sleep and wakefulness (we wake up in the morning because cortisol increases), if it is secreted in high amounts all the time, it is very likely that there will be problems falling asleep and staying asleep. 
  • Depression of the immune system
  • Difficulty in reducing inflammation 
  • Fatigue
  • Concentration and memory problems
  • Weight gain and fat deposits
  • May increase blood pressure 
  • A lot of stress when dealing with the daily stress of life (Trouble dealing with more stress because there is already too much)

LOWER STRESS AND INCREASE IMMUNITY

  • Increase your consumption of alkaline foods, full of water and fiber, such as fruits and vegetables. These are full of water, do not stagnate the body and nourish the cells. They do not require daily effort from the immune system, thus strengthening it. 
  • Avoid eating acidic foods, especially the most acidic ones (fried, processed, ultra-processed)
  • Avoid consumption of addictive foods (Fermented, Hyper Palatable, Industrial with added chemicals) 

An alkaline diet includes fruits, vegetables and healthy fats. It does not cause mental addiction and does not cause stagnation or excessive fat retention, as happens when eating animal meat and its derivatives. By not stagnating the body, it does not trigger the development of parasites, fungi and bacteria. It allows fluidity and an internal balance that leads us to increase health, peace, calm and immunity.
