THE MYTH OF SUPPLEMENTS

I'll start by saying this truth, which may be uncomfortable: there's no supplement that can mask a poor diet. There's no magic pill that can fix deficiencies, although there's a multi-billion-dollar industry that profits from making you believe that's healthy. 

They say that soils are no longer the same, that there are no nutrients in the earth, and that's why we need to supplement. If you can access high-quality, organic food, if possible, even better. A nourishing food will always be a thousand times better than a pill.

Let's take it step by step. First and foremost, we're not trees; we don't have roots, nor the ability to absorb inert minerals from the soil. That's why we need plants, which transform these minerals from inert and inorganic into organic and absorbable by the body.

That's why we say we shouldn't eat ground cloves. However, the food industry fortifies the most unhealthy foods with minerals and vitamins. For example, bread fortified with inorganic iron (i.e., ground cloves). Since the body can't absorb it, it accumulates in fatty tissue and eventually causes poisoning. 

If you don't believe me, try it. Put fortified all-purpose flour, or liquefied bread, or crushed cereal in a Ziploc bag. Take a magnet and pass it around. All those particles are inorganic iron. Just like you see! And that's not good for your body. 

If you take these chemicals in isolation, you might feel the difference and think it's working. Of course, there will be a chemical reaction, but also a strain on the liver and a small amount of toxicity. Now, I imagine, if you take this daily for years, that's when it becomes a problem. 

The conventional allopathic response to nutrient and mineral deficiencies is supplementation, regardless of the reasons for their existence. Or is it an absorption problem, a hormonal problem, or an organ problem? To correct a deficiency at its root, we must go to the root, to balance the body through live foods with BIOAVAILABLE minerals and vitamins that our body can absorb, assimilate, and utilize, but also to eliminate what it doesn't require, which can be easily eliminated, unlike a toxin, which accumulates!

It can cause serious health problems in patients with kidney disease or diseases characterized by iron accumulation in the body (hematocrosis).

Ascorbic acid, erroneously called vitamin C, was invented to fight scurvy. However, it is not effective in reversing it. Only vitamin C found in raw fruits and vegetables is capable of reversing scurvy.

FOLIC ACID is not the same as FOLATE. We need folate, not folic acid. A FOLATE DEFICIENCY (note that it is not a folic acid deficiency!) during pregnancy can have devastating consequences for the baby or mother (fetal development, birth defects, immune function, infertility, heart defects, childhood respiratory diseases, and childhood cancer). We need folate throughout our lives; it is found in raw green vegetables, sprouted seeds, and fruits.

An excess of the synthetic folic acid supplement due to accumulation has side effects such as disrupting natural folate metabolism, which can lead to cancer. Synthetic folic acid binds to folate receptors and competes with folate at the cellular level, causing changes in gene expression and increased cell growth (tumors), exactly the side effects we wanted to avoid. While overdoses of folate are not possible, an overdose due to folic acid accumulation is common due to the popularity of supplements. High levels of unmetabolized folic acid circulating in the blood reduce the protective function of some types of immune cells and fuel cancer cell proliferation. High folic acid intake can mask symptoms in general and lead to vitamin B12 deficiency. The most worrying aspect of folic acid accumulation is the increased risk of cancer it causes. Studies show that prenatal multivitamins promote cancer. This link between cancer and folic acid intake has been known since the 1940s, and is the basis for the development of anti-folate medications to combat cancer. A 2011 meta-analysis showed that natural folates are ideal and protect against cancer. Meanwhile, folic acid promotes cancer (21 times more cancer in people who take supplements).
